Independent Educational Evaluations

A fresh perspective. A clearer understanding of your child's communication.

Sometimes you need another set of eyes.

An Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE) provides a comprehensive, independent look at your child's communication strengths, needs, and the supports that may help them meaningfully participate and communicate at school.

Our evaluations look beyond test scores to understand the whole child and how they communicate in the real world.

When Might a Family Consider an IEE?

You may be exploring an IEE if:

  • You disagree with the results of your child's school based evaluation

  • You feel your child's communication needs weren't fully captured

  • You have concerns that weren't addressed during the evaluation

  • Your child uses AAC or communicates in ways that may not be reflected by standardized testing

  • You want a more comprehensive look at your child's speech and language skillsYou'd like an independent perspective to help guide your child's educational planning

Areas of Evaluation

Independent evaluations may include:

AAC & Multimodal Communication

Evaluating your child's communication needs and access to appropriate AAC systems and supports.

Expressive & Receptive Language

Looking at how your child understands language and communicates their thoughts, wants, needs, and ideas.

Speech Sound Production

Evaluating articulation, phonological patterns, and overall speech intelligibility.

Recommendations are individualized based on your child's unique communication profile and educational needs.

More than a test score.

Standardized testing can give us useful information, but it doesn't always tell the whole story.

We consider your child's communication across activities, environments, communication partners, and modalities to develop a more complete picture of how they communicate and what supports may be appropriate.

The goal is simple:

To make sure your child's communication is understood, not just measured.
